Let’s dispel a myth. Marriage in the rain is not a tragedy, you just need to know how to behave.
The date is July 12, it will never be a wedding in the rain! But the day before the forecasts say deluge. What to do to avoid ruining your day?
You have finally decided the date of the big day, and it is in the height of summer, but the forecasts say it will be a rainy wedding. A few days before you start looking at all the sites you know and you start to worry. Yes, rain is one of the greatest fears of all spouses. Those who get married in March or October must estimate that the chances of this happening are high, but those who have tried to be on the safe side in June, July or August certainly cannot be caught unprepared. So I tried to summarize in an article different solutions for those who fear the rain, so as not to ruin your most beautiful day!
Precautions
If you get married in a villa or in a restaurant, look for one that has a place inside as well. I saw several couples desperate because they wanted to choose a unique location for ceremony and reception, but which unfortunately did not have enough space to hold a celebration inside and they asked me “but if it were to rain how could we do?”. Unfortunately, there is no solution, because in case of light rain umbrellas would be enough, but should there be a storm, things would be unmanageable and the guests would find themselves tight, trying not to get wet, with their shoes sinking into the soft ground.
Better to choose a different villa, with nice spaces even inside and decorate it at will: with flowers, candles and good taste you can do magic! And if there should be the sun so much the better! Or alternatively, consider a shared wedding or in a covered location and then move to the desired one for lunch / dinner.
The same goes for the reception. If you have fallen in love with a villa with an enchanting garden in which to have lunch / dinner but rather ugly interior spaces, think about it, because spending hours in a room you really don’t like could put you in a bad mood and ruin your day. Then it is obvious that if on the scales the beautiful garden wins over the possibility of a storm well, then we can think of daring!
How to do it for a wedding photo shoot in the rain?
The photo shoot is usually not a problem: it generally does not rain all day, so there is always a moment to go out and take photos of the couple, if not during the buffet at least between one course and another. A good photographer, except in rare cases, will be able to find corners, plays of light and glimpses even on a cloudy day without going around the world.
But if you really don’t like the rain and want to avoid the risk of outdoor photos, look for a villa with beautiful rooms, special decorations or a place indoors linked to your memories where you can go for some shots. If not, the best solution is the classic umbrella ! Once a wife of mine told me this: “if the sun is shining it will be a fun and cheerful day, otherwise we will have an intimate and delicate one”. And she was right. Photos of a couple tight under a transparent umbrella, or hugging each other tightly for the cooler temperature are truly romantic!
Nothing to do, you have seen a perfect location for you that you really don’t want to give up. However, the day before the weather did not bode well. What to do?
- If the ceremony is in a villa with no other solutions, you just have to hope for time and equip yourself with giant umbrellas, maybe even some for the guests. In any case, ask if at least a small canopy or gazebo is available. If it really rains a lot, it will certainly be possible to postpone the ceremony for the time necessary to make the rite feasible.
- It would be nice to arrange umbrellas for the guests instead of fans or handkerchiefs. They will certainly appreciate it, and you will have a more refined atmosphere and you will not risk finding yourself in a sea of ugly brown checked or black umbrellas.
- If you are an enterprising spouse and you are not afraid of getting dirty or wet, you can equip yourself with colored rain boots, cheerful umbrellas and throw yourself! Alternatively, a transparent umbrella is always cute and romantic to take some outdoor photos.
