finding the pause.

In life it is so easy for me to go on autopilot.  Until I run out of steam and I hit the wall.  Hard.

I recently came back from a wonderful photography convention and the reoccurring thread was the encouragement to shoot for ourselves.  To shoot what we truly love and make time for personal work.  I definitely have not arrived, but I find myself easily sliding into a comfortable shooting style of what I know how to do…not pushing myself to find the pause.  There are times behind the camera when I’m shooting or sitting at my desk editing and I see something.  I have a dramatic, cinematic moment….sometimes I even hold my breath.  And I feel the pause and the world kind of stands still.

This is what I want in my photography.  To feel it and hold it for a moment longer.  And then share it with you.

Weddings in Woodinville 2013 | Woodhouse Wine Estates

I was so excited and honored to participate in my very first wedding show, Weddings in Woodinville.  It is such a unique wedding show with 7 participating wineries and one featured vendor per category at each winery.  I loved the smaller scale of this event and felt it to be really laid back and intimate.  Chesney Schmidt of All the Flutter invited me to be on her team and we had a great time at Woodhouse Wine Estates.  Every vendor definitely showcased our theme perfectly, “Industrial Elegance.”  I especially loved the beautiful table displayed by Seattle Farm Tables & the turning gears displayed on big screen, also mirrored on the table.  Chesney is a design genius.

Ravishing Radish!  Soooo good.  And their servers were sweet & friendly.  That makes such a big difference at a wedding reception.  I loved working with them.

Loved meeting Tara of Ephemera Liberated Letterpress…she is true artist & I absolutely love her work!

I have loved getting to know Kara of the Sweet Side & have worked with her at several weddings.  And one of the best parts of the day was the samples at the end :)  Yes, she is the real deal…I loved her cake pops & macarons.  Anyone that knows me well, knows those are my absolute favorite treats!

I was pretty excited to select some original pieces from Scout Vintage Rental Co….thank you Jenn!  Chesney also artfully arranged some cute vintage sofas near my area, making our entire space feel intimate and inviting.  My best friend, Rachel was my assistant for the day…she has the best smile & laugh and can make anyone comfortable in conversation in about 3 seconds flat.  Thanks for your help & support, Rach!

Thank you for having me Chesney!  I so admire your design style and ability of executing all of the details that make a wedding (or event) so incredibly lovely.  And what an honor to stand among such talented creatives.  It was a great show and it made me all the more excited for this upcoming wedding season!
